For the child who loves drama, New York City offers many theatrical productions that might suit him or her just fine. The first is geared towards girls and is American Girl Place. You can enjoy dining, shopping, and theatre while spending a day with your special little girl. This is a great bonding experience for mothers and daughters. The Manhattan Children’s Theatre produces several high quality shows for children and families throughout the year at quite reasonable prices (season tickets are also available for those who live nearby). The New Victory Theater offers a different type of theater experience for families to enjoy. The Paper Bag Players are a must see experience. They offer a different type of theatre for children that encourages audience participation that gets your children involved in the dramatic process. If you have the time you should also check out TADA! Youth Theater in order to show your children that even children have talents that need to be explored and can make a difference not only in their own lives but also in the lives of others.

In addition to the great activities mentioned above, there are several children’s museums located in New York in addition to other museums that offer exhibitions that may be of interest to your children. The following museums are well worth checking out even if you decide to seek entertainment elsewhere: Brooklyn Children’s Museum, Staten Island Children’s Museum, Children’s Museum of Manhattan, FDNY Fire Zone, Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art, New York Hall of Science, Sony Wonder Technology Lab, Queens Country Farm Museum, and Ripley’s Believe it or Not! Times Square. There are many more museums in the city that may provide plenty of family entertainment and education but these are some of the most kid-friendly museums in the city.

The Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s general economic index climbed from 11.9 in January to 15.4 this month – beating the median forecast of economists that called for a rise to 15. The index covers New York, northern New Jersey and southern Connecticut, with a reading above zero indicating expansion.

Manufacturers stand to benefit from an uptick in investment from businesses and rising exports; the growth in consumer spending could also spur further activity in the sector, Bloomberg reports. Paul Ashworth, the chief U.S. economist at Capital Economics, said manufacturing continues to be a bright spot in the U.S. economy.

Nonetheless, factory executives in the New York Fed’s district were decidedly less optimistic about the future: The survey found that their outlook on what condition the economy will be in six months from now fell to 49.4 from 59.

New York, which is the country’s most populous city, is also one of the top tourist destinations in the world. The city, which consists of five parts: Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, The Bronx, and Staten Island, covers a land area of over 300 square miles. Statue of Liberty is the most famous attraction in the city.

But aside from sightseeing, another favorite activity that tourists love here is antique shopping. One of the best spots that antique enthusiasts should explore is the Greenport. It is located on the Long Island’s North Fork and has a varied collection of antiques that reflect the old seafaring world. A quieter but smaller antique shopping site is located in Southold. This place is filled with so many amazing antique shops. This is also where you will find the antique doll hospital.

Locust Valley is a hidden gem for antique lovers. Although this place cannot be found in most tourist maps, this place is known for excellent quality antiques that you can buy at reasonable prices. Hudson is an area that is composed of eclectic antique stores. Most of the antique dealers in this area located in Warren Street. Situated west of Canandaigua is a mile-long string of antique shops.

With so many wonderful antique stores in New York, exploring all of them within one or two days would be impossible. To maximize your time while you’re here, choose one spot to visit then devote the rest of your day to other incredible attractions around the area.

There is so much to see and do in New York City at anytime of the year. New York sightseeing can be rewarding to organize all by yourself, but for the tourist who’s short on time the best things to do in New York City can often be found in one of many New York City tours.

Broadway — New York! New York!

Start spreading the news, if you want to be a part of it in New York then a visit to Broadway is an essential stop on New York City tours. Get carried away with big name acts like The Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserable, The Lion King, and many more. Often you’ll be entertained with a star studded cast, because for many years Hollywood actors and actresses, like Nicole Kidman, Julia Roberts, and even Denzel Washington have all hit the Broadway stage for the thrill of a live performance.

Central Park

In a city full of skyscrapers, Central Park provides a welcome reprieve from the hustle and bustle. New York City tours that include a stop off at Central Park should allow for plenty of exploring and relaxing time in the 800-odd acres of parkland. For an energetic exploration of Central Park, join one of the many bicycle tours of the park, or rent a bicycle, get a map, and explore the park yourself. For the more adventurous, horses can be rented from the nearby stables at a reasonable cost and provide a unique and unforgettable way to see Central Park.

Statue Of Liberty

By far one of New York City’s greatest landmarks, a trip to New York would not be complete without visiting the Statue of Liberty. To reach the Statue of Liberty, catch the ferry across to Liberty Island from Battery Park. Tours can be arranged beforehand or when you arrive at the island. To do this globally recognized symbol of freedom justice, allow for at least half a day to complete the tour and explore the surrounding islands.

Metropolitan Museum of Art

For a more culturally sophisticated experience, indulge in a tour of the city’s museums. The Metropolitan Museum of Art is by far one of New York City’s finest museums. From Rembrandt, to the Cloisters, to ancient Egyptian artifacts, and to the latest in Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art can fill hours of tour time. Organized tours that incorporate the museum will provide you a great way to see the museum’s most intriguing highlights from the many permanent and temporary collections.

Madame Tussauds New York

Lastly, Madame Tussauds New York is an entertaining and engaging destination on New York city tours. The museum showcases life-size wax models of America’s Hollywood royalty and other recognizable famous faces — or in the case of J.Lo, famous derrieres. Spend an hour or two being a part of interactive experiences like the night club VIP party, or Superman’s Metropolis.

The pizza in New York has a long standing debate going for who is the best. There is one thing for sure, the pizza that comes out of the streets of New York and other neighborhoods near by is were pizza got its big start. Pizza lovers are sure to find a few places that will have some of the best pizza in the world.

Lombardi’s Pizza was the first pizzeria in America when it was established in 1905. It took a few years for pizza to really gain popularity. It wasn’t until after WWII that pizza become a house hold must have. Because Lombardi’s was the first pizzeria many would say that Gennaro is the father of pizza in America. It all started as a grocery store trying to sell something that was a quick lunch for all the busy people walking by. The first pies were just tomato pies. Many of the Italians in the neighborhood would pick them up and take them to the job site. Because they couldn’t always afford the whole pie they just bought slices. It closed for about 10 years after the grandson ran it for a while. He eventually opened the doors back up and it has been running every since.

Grimaldi’s calls itself an institution. They have the coal fired brick ovens as well which gives the unique smokey flavor and crispy crunch in the crust. This is the pizzeria that Frank Sinatra would have sent to him whereever he was performing all over the country. Certainly to Las Vegas. The former Mayor of New York, Guiliani would also get his pizza from Grimaldi’s. There fresh ingredients and cooking style makes it a top of many peoples list.

Totonno’s also started creating great pizza in 1905. Anthony Totonno Pero says he is the first Master Pizziolas. He opened his first pizzeria in 1924 on Coney Island. Totonno’s is the oldest continuously operating pizzeria in America. The business has passed down through generations of the same family. They import handmade mozzarella cheese from Italy and the dough is made each day at each store. The first pizzeria was more casual and has it has the family has opened stores in the city they have become more upscale.

Some of the celebrities of modern fame like to grab a pizza at John’s Pizzeria which is found on Bleecker Street. Jack Black, Vanilla Ice and Regis Philbin have sent in their comments give the pizza some high remarks. In keeping with the local pizza tradition, they also have the wood fired ovens with the most fresh ingredient. They have been open since 1929 and they only sell pizza by the whole pie with cash. No slices is printed in bold along the outside awning.
